Overview:

At the conclusion of the 2016 season when the final rankings were released,  I was stunned as to how the Tigers ended up ranked as low as 14th in the country after not having suffered a loss to another team ranked lower than 10th in that of Wesleyan. However, the mid spring season departure of senior and number 2 singles player plus one half of their number 1 doubles team FALL ITA National Doubles Champion Adam Krull changed the dynamic of the squad overnight. The team regrouped and pressed forward going on to capture the SCAC Championships and advance to Nationals where they would eventually lose to Emory University in the round of 16 in Atlanta, GA.  The Trinity Tigers are now exiting the Paxton Deuel/Adam Krull era and are now wandering into uncharted territory yet exciting times. The good news is that they have a slew of talented solid players on their roster and they are sure to be one of the deeper teams in the country. On the flip side, they will not have the lethal one two punch as they did with Deuel and Krull. Trinity will need senior and Fall 2016 ITA Regional Finalist Chas Mayer plus sophomore and Fall 2016 ITA National Doubles Finalist Wilson Lambeth to step up at the top of the lineup if they want to get back into the Elite Eight. DIII Tennis has become more competitive plus stronger than ever and the Tigers can’t afford to be losing at the top 2 singles positions every time out. But rest assured Coach Russell McMindes and Asst Coach George Rivers will have their guys ready to go and will be a tough team to beat!
